Fixed my sink with $4 and a bike ride
« on: August 15, 2014, 01:58:47 PM »
About a month ago a button came off our kitchen faucet - the button that switches the water flow from spray to stream. The local Kohler rep said I'd have to order a whole new head assembly to the tune of around $100. That stuck in my craw a little, so I googled and eBayed and finally I found the part number I needed for just that button.

Got the same local plumbing place to order it in for me. Today, because it was such a beautiful day, I stuck my two kids in the bike trailer and biked the 7 miles roundtrip to get the part. Total cost: about $4. And the faucet is fixed!

Nice! This is like when those stupid plastic bolts on your toilet seat break and they tell you to buy a whole new seat. Even the replacement "toilet seat bolts" cost something like $8. Just use a regular bolt/wingnut and a couple of washers!
