Yeah, i am so excited currently, i want to share his.
Yesterday our dishwasher died, while working it made an awful electric scratching sound and was dead. No buttons worked and no lights did shine.
So i accepted this challenge as i was not in mood to spend 400€ for a new one and our dead one was only 5 years old, as well as i wanted to build basic skills in this field. Equipped with a borrowed multimeter and a screwdriver i disasemled the front of the beast and tried to figure out what was wrong. I only have some basic electrical knowledge but after measurig some power cables inside and a test for available source at the main entry power cables (i guessed them basing on colors and wiring) it became obvious that the main switch was the cause.
I verified this by building a basic bypass from old electrical stuff found in the garage and after that workedmi secured said bypass. Now i have a perfectly usable dish washer again (we use a power line with integrated switch now, this was also found in he garage) and avoided a replacement cost around our grocery budget for one month. This equals to about a fictional pay of 130€ per hour, and a gain in self confidence and joy.
A very badass experience!
