Fix...Repair 0r Replace...$pend ?
« on: April 09, 2016, 01:52:42 PM »
Today I had to ask myself that question when deciding whether to fix or replace a 14 year old ceiling fan in our kitchen that needed a new speed control switch. I looked online for the replacement part and was having 2nd thoughts on fixing it or just buying a new one. I decided to go look at Home Depot and if they had the part I would go ahead and fix it. Luckily they did have the new 3 speed 4 wire switch for $4. Got home and 15 minutes later our fan is working good as new....saved $79 to $129, feels great!

I recently repaired a vent shield on our microwave by just putting a screw through the top because the plastic tabs broke off the hold it in place. These are minor repairs on one hand, but many people don't take the time to fix stuff, they just buy new. So when you can avoid spending money it sure feels awesome!
