First $100k
« on: August 03, 2020, 11:08:03 AM »
Last year we paid off all debts except the mortgage so this year we set a goal to save $100k in our 3 retirement accounts and our emergency savings account. As of last month we are at $105k! It feel great to hit the goal early so we set a new goal to hit $110k by the end of the year. I suspect we'll go over that, too.

The accomplishment feels extra wonderful because that money is just retirement and savings. We have separate accounts for saving for the next car replacement, vacation, and a separate 529 for our child.

**Update**
We are now over $110k! Exciting stuff! I predict we'll have $120k by the end of the year.

**Final 2020 total**
$128k! Wow! I'm so happy with our progress.

That's exactly how I feel! Like it would be a lot harder to get in a financial mess because of the savings and lack of consumer debt.

Awesome!  Like other folks have said, the first 100K is the hardest.  Momentum (aka compound growth) is real!

Including attitude, it all starts to take hold. Come back and report #2 also.

We hit that mark too this year. If felt great to do this while also paying off $60k in student loans in 6 year while not making big bucks. Congrats on 6 digits. Hope the journey to 7 is a smooth one.  I agree that having that safety cushion helps so much to not stress about money.  Knowing that rice and beans is because you want to, not because you have to is great, and lately we haven't wanted to so we don't.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
