Kicked my $35 Internet bill down $10 for next year!

Noticed my $34.95 monthly DSL bill with the former QWest communications has a 'discount' that's due to expire on 7/22.
I'm on auto-pay, with paperless billing - their favorite type of customer...
Called customer service, and asked vaguely if there were other offers, because "I don't use the internet at home that much anymore... blah, blah, blah..."
The 'new 12 month offer" is $24.95 effective 7/13/2016.

Lol thats what I do too.  They ask me all sorts of things like, don't you watch streaming video or play games?  I always just say 'no, i basically just use it for email and i can do that on my phone now...' and kind of trail off.

Gets me the "promotional price" everytime.

I have DSL internet with Century Link (Qwest) also. It's glacier slow, 4mbps, but works well enough for us, even streams video ok. It's the fastest they have in my neighborhood. Since it's so slow it's easy for me to call them to ask for a better price when my 6 month or 12 month promo price runs out. For over 4 years now I've payed $20/mp to $24/mo for it. We try to get our money's worth out of it. We have a Google Voice number and an Obi100 box and use that as our "landline" to make free calls over the internet. Then we have Tracfone cell phones for when we are out (<$100/yr each).

Over the years of calling for a better price I've found that sometimes you have to talk to more than one person and find the one that really wants to help you. The last time I called the person said, sorry we don't have any new promo prices right now. I said thank you and hung up. Called back right away and got another person who cheerfully found me a 12 month promo price. So, keep trying.

I am currently on $29.99/mo 12 Month performance internet promo with Comcast. Basically in December when promo ends I will call and use my politeness to get back on promo.

When google fiber said they were coming to Austin, TX. ATT jumped up and offered a 1,000/1,000 offerr. TWC followed up with a 300/300 plan.
I called ATT, and said i would sign up, but i would require that they gave me their promo rate of 64$/mo for 50 years rather than the normal 99$/mo rate.

They agreed.....

Dumped TWC the next week.

At the time i NEEDED that kind of bandwidth, i really do not know, but there are times when it is really nice :)
