Disinfectant savings
« on: March 22, 2020, 06:58:24 AM »
Found a $5 jug of concentrated sanitizer at Sam's Club yesterday.
https://www.samsclub.com/p/mmc-sanitizer-128-fl-oz/prod21041136?xid=plp_product_1_1

It'll make about 56 GALLONS of disinfectant.

Compared to 32 oz of lemon scented sanitizer for $2 at Walmart.

Hopefully this is the same thing, the ingredients look similar.
Edit: Seems it's good for about two years https://www.cleanlink.com/news/article/Knowing-The-Shelf-Life-Of-Cleaning-Products--18218

Wonder how much lemon scent would cost to add.

This is NOT hand sanitizer.

Just be careful, some of the commercial ones can eat away at some surfaces.

Also, why do you need so much sanitizer? Stay home! Inside! Away from other people! If you're doing that right, then I wouldn't worry about it so much and just do your usual cleaning.

Thanks for the tip about it possibly damaging some surfaces.
It is definitely too much for one household, but for $5, we didn't think concentrated meant 50-128x concentration.

The family was concerned about having enough general cleaning supplies for a couple months (because we were running low on them and the grocery stores were out of stock for weeks).

For cleaning supplies, buying in bulk and then diluting is the way to go!

I'm personally a fan of Odoban.  One gallon of concentrate at Home Depot for ten bucks will last us around a year.
