Stuck to the budget!
« on: August 30, 2015, 04:10:22 PM »
This is the first month i've been able to come in under budget on all the variable things that happen.  $143 left over!  Woot Woot!!!
Been tweaking it and will see if i can stick to it 2 months in a row

I've been working ridiculous amounts of over time to compensate for the fact that i've had multiple weddings and car repairs ruin the previous months budgets.
For the last 3 or 4 months i've been trying really hard to cut electricity/heating costs, already noticing improvements there.  I think my LEDs made a fairly big improvement, and keeping the AC to a minimum this summer.
I've gotten rid of cable 8 months and counting now
Got the paper saying my mortgage is dead this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Projected savings rate is 11% but thats after already paying into a work pension as well.  Not super mustachian compared to some here.  Hoping to see a raise in the next year.  I'm planning several events/trips that i'm saving up for now, so after about 2-3 years that savings rate should double.  The future events are important to me, so not really something i want to sacrifice.   Already bummed i had to cancel one this winter due to the awful dollar conversions.  30% difference in the dollar sucks...........

Congratulations!  I hope you can keep the momentum going!

Are you having a mortgage burning party?  (No, that's not me.)

Not really having a burning party.  my immediate family knows and i'm enjoying a few small things this month to celebrate.  Everyone else around me is just starting their mortgages.  I'm looking into newer vehicle stuff now.  but yes i do plan on keeping the momentum going in some way and i've been following the investing forums and reading lots of books lately.

Way to go!  I'm trying to stick to my budget this month.  Getting the kids back to school last month really stretched the budget I had set up.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
