Cut our gasoline purchase by 50%
« on: May 14, 2014, 11:58:16 AM »
Comparing April 2013 to April 2014 we have cut our gas purchase by 50%.  In April of 2013 we spent $180 to keep a 2000 Grand Prix running for a 4 mile round trip commute, and a 2008 Sonata for a 8 mile round trip commute.  We traded in a the Sonata in March for a Honda Fit and my Pontiac now sits while I bike to work.  In April of 2014 we spent only $80 and that included a trip to a neighboring town.

Never would have gotten to this point without the blog & community to set a new bar and provide the information we needed to make better financial decisions.

That is awesome. Driving as little as possible not only saves you gas, it keeps you safer, too, given the dangers of driving.
