A friend came to me for advice today because she is unable to make her mortgage payment on time. She and her DH have a long history of financial issues, including a BK many years ago, and they are headed in that direction once again. Because of this forum, and hundreds of other articles, columns, blogs and books I've been reading, I was able to give her steps to help save them money immediately. Today she reduced some auto insurance coverages, worked out something with their Direct TV (unable to cut it completely), and called her cell phone provider to save $100/mo thus far. She canceled a lunch she was supposed to go to today, and a trip for next weekend. I directed her to two different online couponing pages. etc etc.
We also discussed their 4 pets, two car payments, and other items.
I am so proud of her-and me for having the knowledge to be able to share with her. :D
