I chatted with an agent online at Cricket Wireless.  I was going over various plan, to see what kind of discount I and my boyfriend could get if we joined together.   I mentioned Republic Wireless being $20 per month for 2GB of data (I pay $30 per month right now for 2gb of LTE data).

Anyways he immediately said he'd credit my account $25 after asking him what he could do for us.   I guess he feared I might of left to Republic Wireless.

So if you haven't already, and have cricket, perhaps chat with them and you can get $25 too :) I think I am going to try this again in a year.. I'll set a calender event 370 days from now to remind me.  $25 per year credit makes the $30 per month about $28 per month, which helps.

Oh and after my boyfriend signs up we each get $25.  So his plan becomes $28 per month for first year and mine $26.

I recently switched 1 phone of our 5 to RW as a test.
I'm sorry I did it. It is cheaper but I don't like the VOIP system.
When I call her, it takes much longer for the phone to start ringing,
sometimes after she answers I miss the first response, and other
nuisances.
I'll be switching back to Verizon after I have saved enough with RW to pay
the transfer fee, about 2 months.

She didn't switch to Republic Wireless, she just mentioned their lowest price/plan and got a credit.

What do you guys think of Tello? Wow seems like a good deal:  $14 per month for unlimited calls, text & 1gb of LTE data.  I can easily keep my data under 1 gb as long as I don't download any apps nor watch videos, which I don't do anyways.

I can download my apps to phone while I am at home on my wifi.

Don't know, but I am about to switch to Mint Mobile (SIMs arriving tomorrow). It is $15 /month for unlimited calls/text and 2GB of LTE data, unlimited 2G data after that. You have to prepay for a year to get that rate though (I am doing the 3 month trial)

WOW!  You've got my attention.  It looks like my area and current phone will work, I may have to give Mint a try.

Just activated my phone / ported over my number. Took about 10 minutes. Good service and data here at home so far, heading out on a bike ride in a few to test out the service!

Just this one change means $41,000 less stache needed compared to my old Verizon bill....... and $135/month extra in savings

My boyfriend is going to try Mint Mobile.  $45 for three months.  Unlimited call and text, along with 2GB LTE data.  I'll share how that goes.  He currently has an AT&T iPhone -- hopefully it will work (all the right bands) well with this T-Mobile netowrk Mint uses.
