Yesterday, I picked up an old riding mower from my dad with a plan to fix it, sell it and buy a kayak with the proceeds.   Got up this morning, worked on it, fixed several things, mowed my grass, cleaned it up, took some pics for craigslist, came inside, did a search to see what similar mowers were listed for, and up pops an ad from a guy that wants to trade a kayak for a mower.  I call him up and he lives only a couple miles away.  We set a time and he brings the boat over.  Both parties were pleased, and a handshake later I was the proud new owner of a new used kayak ("Scrambler", for those interested).  Couldn't believe how well it worked out!

I'm visualizing a redneck jerry-rigged kayak with a John Deere seat and motor strapped to some junk plastics.

Not what I expected...OP...congrats though! Enjoy kayaking!

You mean you didn't supe up the engine to get the blades spinning so fast that the mower acts like a quasi-hovercraft? Lame!

Congrats on the easy barter! Those are the best.

I was also hoping for a MacGyver-esque mower-to-kayak transformation, with pictures and step-by-step instructions.  ;) But high-five, OP, your way sounds much more efficient!

Barter is a great way to get what we need while getting rid of what we don't need.

Congrats on a trade well done! I'm glad it worked out like that for you.

He reeled us all in with the title.  Perhaps the OP should consider a new career writing tabloid headlines :)

As with many here, I was thoroughly intrigued by the title and thought you had transformed a mower into a kayak. Though the trade absolutely deserves the highest of fives, a mower-kayak hybrid would also have been pretty sick...
