Christmas gifts for kids
« on: September 10, 2016, 11:55:42 AM »
My wife and I were discussing how our kids really need nothing for Christmas and that we are done buying "stuff" that goes practically unused and unappreciated.  My wife suggested we wrap up their library cards for them for their gift this year.  I thought that was a hilariously clever gift idea!

Our kids receive their summer passes to the public pool for their birthdays! They aren't old enough for library cards, yet.

What about a family "experience" for Christmas this year?  My brother and his wife started doing that every other year once their children were older.  They had great times on their adventures.

We've been doing this for years! It usually happens in May right after the end of school, which allows plenty of time to plan.

Something to wear

Something they need

 Something to play with

Something to read

I think thats how it goes.  I find that to be a nice and simple tradition for gifting children at Christmas time.

Well, think about why you give gifts. What are you trying to show your kids or teach them. I don't give gifts because they "need," anything. I meet all their needs. Gifts sure love and are one of the few things a year u give then something just because they want it. So far, that is a favorite toy, books, art supplies. Favorite dark chocolate and a new tooth brushes for stuffings. Small and simple.

I've heard it as:  Want, need, wear, read.   It's a great idea!
