« on: June 18, 2013, 12:25:52 PM »
So i've been working very hard on this for the past 5 months and I received my final test results a week ago and I've passed the CPA exam.

I'm super pumped and pleased that my dedication has paid off.

Dynamite!

Well done.

Congrats!!!

Having gone through this myself, I understand the hard work that goes into studying... for me it was about 6 months straight of hardcore studying and testing. But it paid off and I passed all 4 parts on the first try. Was SO glad to have my life back after that!

Enjoy the break from studying and again, congratulations!

Congrats!  I went through it too.  It was a tough 5 months but it has paid off in spades, career-wise.

Also now you get to be on the receiving end of all sorts of fun jokes!

When my sister-in-law, who is a CPA, had a baby, we got her this:

At least it's not as bad as if you passed the bar though.

hah!  I love it.

love the deduction; they still cost far in excess of any breaks though :)

You know I'm not sure at this point.  We're quite top heavy right now so there's not really much in the way of partner opportunity.  Perhaps a move to the private sector would be good.

I've considered setting up my own shop, tax season side business but I believe it's currently unethical to compete with my employer so at this point no.

This is true of all professional services firms (my own included).  Trust me, if you bring in business, there is always room for another partner.

Congrats on getting past the Can't Pass Again exam :)  Getting through it in 5 months sounds like you went 4/4 as well so great work!

You know it's funny... once I got my act together I went 3 for 3.  I picked up audit accidentally awhile back.  I never really took the exam seriously and tried to just waltz through them.

As it turns out it's not so easy to accomplish that...

so basically I set a goal and a time period.  Mapped out the sections and timing.  Scheduled all the tests and banged them out one after another.

It's still a blur but amazing looking and seeing that passing score and knowing your hard work has paid off.
