Broke the $100k net worth barrier
« on: February 16, 2017, 12:59:01 PM »
Subject says it all; I realized today I have roughly $100k net worth!  Damn, that number looks good.

I was thinking back, and in May 2009 I had graduated college with about $20k in debt, into the bottom on the recession.  July 2015 my NW was about $40k, and that's when I really started buckling down.  I can do better, but I've progressed much further than I thought in a year and a half.

I just want to pat myself on the back for a bit ;)

Congratulations!! You've come a long way in 8 years.

If you want to join us on the "race" to the next milestone (250k): http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/throw-down-the-gauntlet/race-from-100-to-250k/

Congrats!! I think this is really one of the most important milestones. I still remember the day I broke 100k. And as they say, the first 100 is the hardest. Keep it up and you'll be at 200 before you know it!

Congrats!  The first 100k is definitely the hardest.  It took us about 410 days to go from 35k to 100k, 480 day from 100k to 200k, and it looks like we will break 300k later this month after approx 360 days.

It definitely starts to snowball after a wile.  Keep it up!

Thanks all!  Glad to hear that the first $100k is the hardest.  The biggest helper to this was moving out of my way too big house (and now renting it out), closer to work, in a cheaper apartment.

Nice! 125 will be here sooner than you know it, too. Then 150, then "We'll never be worth less than 100 unless something so bad happens that we won't care what we're worth." Then 200 and onward from there! Great Lakes FTW!

Nice! It'll only get easier from here between compounding interest, (hopefully) a higher income than when you first graduated, and an eye towards lower expenses. Keep focused and all of a sudden a $100K NW increase happens in <1 year vs. 8 years.
