Not my badassity, but certainly an incredible display of badassity is put on by this guy who is doing some long distance bike touring in Siberia and camping out most nights:

Wow! I don’t think I could do that.

Badass x10k.
I especially like the commentary around how biking creates so much body heat that it's perfectly comfortable (and necessary) to unzip the jackets. It was neat to watch the steam rise up.

Thanks for sharing.

I do (much less extreme) winter cycling to commute in the winters, and always found clothing choices to be really tough for that reason.  Most breathable stuff just gets clogged with sweat and ice, and you really have to focus on pacing to avoid overheating/cooking yourself.  I tend to underdress most of the time being aware that I'll start to heat up about 1/4 way through my commute . . .

Agreed. I was known in the office for having a blanket in my desk drawer so folks were surprised when I'd roll up with my jacket undone and jersey unzipped. It makes for a fun conversation starter, "No seriously, I'm warmer when I bike than when I drive to work".  You get it :)

What most impresses me about this guy cycling around in Siberia is his relentless optimism.  The video linked is the third time he tried.  The previous two times with temperatures below -45 he was having problems with the rubber in his tubes freezing and cracking so he didn't get too far.

Good grief.
There's something about peddling away and rolling through the landscape that creates an instant Happy Place. Yay endorphins :)

Enjoy the bike tour.  I'm itchy for something domestic in a few months.

You know you've got it made in Russia when you can afford a relaxing bike vacation in Siberia in the winter!

This guy is a rock star! What a great attitude. I also noted that some of his gear looks homemade. If I haven't pinged @Linea_Norway before, I'm doing it now.

He has an enviable level of optimism . . . you gotta give him that.

Looks like madness to me. I have been in these temperatures sometimes and then usually wait until it warms up before going out. The landscape looks a bit familiar though.

The parts that I see that look home made are the tin foil he folded on top of his cooking jar. And the extra insolation of his thermo bottle.
