Big win with SO
« on: April 17, 2015, 08:00:07 AM »
My husband has been very passive in our Mustachian efforts for getting rid of debt, paying off the mortgage and seeking FI.  He doesn't actively work against the plan with unmustachian behaviors.  It's just that everything is a "no, remember, we agreed to wait on that..." discussion and he doesn't come up with ANY ideas for optimization.  I've been frustrated with this for the last 4 years we've been on this journey but finally resigned myself that at least he's not working against the plan and maybe that's good enough.

Yesterday, I was talking to a neighbor and mentioned that I missed my husband as he's out of town on a business trip.  He said my hubs jokingly asked him to keep an eye on me while he was gone in case I sold all of our possessions, kids and pets in the meantime.  Then he said that my hubs was straight up bragging on how proud he was of me and said how lucky he was to have such an ambitious wife who would charge ahead for the good of the family!  What?!  He's never said anything like that before.  I was floored and, not gonna lie, teared up a little.  I'm so glad to know that he really is on board though his everyday behavior shows he's just not such an aggressive personality as me (which I already knew- and that's probably why we're still married : )

I don't blame you for tearing up a little.  There is nothing more wonderful that finding out that your partner finds you bragworthy.  Incidentally, your neighbor is a keeper too.  People who enjoy relaying good news are not that common.

You still sold a bunch of his stuff while he was away, though, right?  ;-)

Seriously, nice story. :)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
