990 VantageScore
« on: September 27, 2014, 07:19:09 PM »
So according to Credit Karma my VantageScore is a perfect 990. I know no one uses VantageScore but it felt pretty good to see that. My credit score on Credit Karma is 775 which I am of course happy with.

What's a vantage score?

I researched my credit score before applying for a mortgage and the main UK one had my score at 999/1000. Never quite figured out how to get that magical last point..

My creditkarma score was nowhere near my actual credit scores.  It actually held me back from applying for a mortgage much longer than necessary; when I applied for the mortgage I found my scores were much higher.  That website is about useful as the proverbial "Tits on a bull."

Just my two cents.....

I find CreditKarma to be useful for entertainment purposes only (although I suppose if there was a sudden large drop it would set off an alarm).  According to them my Vantage Score is 914, while my Credit Score is 799 (where it has been for 2 solid years now, not a point up or a point down in 2 years).  Discover gives me my FICO score for free each statement and it has always been in the 800s.  My mortgage guy is telling me as long as I am above 740 I have nothing to worry about (not that I would worry anyway).

An auto dealer finance officer once told me it's impossible to have a "perfect" score if the person is alive because there was always some risk of default. I guess once you die your score goes up (and is useless).
