Badassity For All of Us
« on: August 03, 2017, 01:28:53 PM »
For all those Mustachians who haven't done anything spectacularly badass recently, remember how far from normal our goals are, and how few people in the US retire at our ages.

This one is for all of us:

This is my kind of one-percenter club.

Why is 50-54 shown twice, and with different percentages?

That's weird, isn't it?  The chart comes from this article: http://time.com/money/4584900/ages-people-retire-probably-too-young-early-retirement/
I was looking for information on retirement ages.

Omg that article is terrifying:  "... how severe the retirement income crisis is—and why more Americans should consider working longer and delaying Social Security..."

Solution to retirement woes: just work longer!!

Hmm, their totals add up to 102% and they have 50-54 down there twice as 1% and 3% respectively...but regardless, it's nice to see I'll be in a 1% club either way since my target is under 50. Not hugely under, but under just the same.

Thank you for the reminder that those of us not hitting the super early FIRE in our 20's or 30's are still doing spectacularly well compared to the norm. It makes me sad for the people who just won't get a handle on their money though.

I'm going to save that image, to remind myself just how far ahead I am, when I feel like I'm not doing enough.

Yeah, I thought I would find more of a bell curve shape with a max around 55 or 60 based on all my exposure to early retirement blogs.  I guess I'll have to make friends with people who work nights, and others who work weekends if I want to do things with people my age.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
