My mom made soap when I was a kid.  She would get big lumps of pork fat from the butcher and render it down to get the grease.  It smelled so bad it drove us kids out of the house.  That said, it's the best soap ever for getting stains out of clothes.  She still has a few bars that she keeps next to the washing machine.

Yup melting the grease ones give off a pungent smell but ad some essential oil and the soap smells great.

Bacon scented soap? Men (and stray dogs) will find me sooooo attractive ;-)!

When one gets down to it, is there really that much difference between these two groups? :D
