Title: And I shall call it: Frankentrailer!
Post by: Thegoblinchief on March 20, 2014, 04:03:43 PM
Version 1 of my 3 kid bike trailer mod. Used scrap wood and deck screws to build a brace, seat, and then a plywood back. Not pretty but it's functional and way better than having to use the minivan more than absolutely necessary!

Intend this as proof-of-concept but it works great once I replace the board holding up the plywood with a short piece of angle iron instead, since the pine keeps cracking with the wind tension.

You'd better hope those kids don't grow.

That is when the oldest gets a multiple speed bike and/or we get a second trailer and do a train.

Biked over to my sister's house for dinner. Despite my wife's car being available for the return trip (she met us there after work), my two girls asked to ride with Daddy "so they could see the stars".

Not many stars to see in city, but that was nice :)

Now that I've got a few long rides down, having that much weight behind me obviously incurs a penalty getting started and going uphill, but the sheer inertia buildup actually has me going faster when the grade is neutral.
