Title: A third of a million!!!!!!
Post by: webguy on July 03, 2014, 07:22:15 AM: This is a big milestone for me and I wanted to share it!.. My wife and I just hit a third of a million in net worth today!!! The goal is to get to a million so we're a third of the way there!! The next short term goal is to try to get to half a million before I hit 30 and we have our first kid (I'm 28). Here's the breakdown...

Investments: $203k
Cash: $32k
Home equity: $100k
Grand total: $335k

I'd never dreamed of having this much money, it's kind of crazy. I grew up in a large family where money was tight, which definitely contributed to my frugalness. Our net worth has increased by about $200k in the past year and half as I started my own web development business and it's been doing really well so far. I wanted to share this as encouragement to any budding entrepreneurs who are thinking about taking the plunge and starting their own gig. I was making about $68,500 at my day job but since quitting have been able to pull in about $200k (gross) in the past 12 months by being self-employed. Remember, the best investment you can make is in yourself and in your own business!

I also hit a big milestone recently when my Mom asked me how much I had saved up, and I told her I was hovering around $150k (month or two ago) in IRA/brokerage/401k/cash/etc. She asked me why I didn't consider the value of the condo that I rent out, and she was right! I didn't realize until about a month ago that I really have a NW of $250k!!!

I myself, yesterday, just crossed over the 1/3 of the way mark between my retirement funds and other assets. No thunder stealing here. I don't post a whole lot but I read the forums every day and love reading about how other people are doing in their journeys so thought it would be fun to share a bit of mine.
