Title: 500k achievement unlocked!
Post by: Cookie78 on July 15, 2015, 09:47:47 AM: Normally I tally up my net worth every 2 months around the 15th. But I couldn't wait another month so I did it today. Numbers are rounded to the nearest thousand and the equity in both houses is estimated, but today the numbers added up exactly to 500,000!

Feels so good. This forum is truly life changing. :)

I am not sure the equity in your homes is the correct calculation here. Maybe a more accurate formula would be to subtract the remaining loan amount from the market price of your home ?

Care to explain further? Sure, my US and EAFE indexes (bought in $Cad) are doing great right now (+14% and +19%), but that's only because the $Cad has plummeted. My purchases now won't be seeing these returns for quite some time...

That's nothing compared to when you unlock the $1M achievement. Once a year John Bogle will personally bring you cupcakes. If you want a particular day, be sure to schedule it well in advance.
