If you need home internet for work, obviously it is necessary. If access to electronic media is top priority, then sure.

But my thinking is that since my wife and I have smart phones which I wouldn't want to part with because having internet in your pocket is so handy, why would we need much else? This only works if your data use is low.

Logically, it is still the same fundamental question... whether the home internet is in your pants or on your desk..

I find internet allows other items to be lower in cost.  Pandora is my streaming radio, Netflix is my TV (or direct via ABC.com, CBS.com, etc.) I also use cloud services for data backup which wouldn't be wise with a LTE connection (my cloud is about 100GB).

It depends on the user...I'm more of a power user when it comes to computers.
