10 min of phones calls and boom - savings of 1000 dollars
« on: September 25, 2015, 05:42:28 PM »
With just a few phone calls we nailed a savings of around 1000 dollars!

Our car insurance was expensive, especially since we added my sdecond car that I use to commute daily. We were paying 400 dollars per semester and 600 dollars in home insurance.

I called my insurance company to try to change the policies a little bit but still thought it was expensive.

Started shopping around for insurance and ended up with State Farm for both auto insurance and home insurance.

No collision or comprehension on car insurance ... 1 car on pleasure category and another on commute - 178 dollars per semester.

Home insurance I was in AWEEEE when I was quoted!!!!! I tried every little insurance company and they all came at 500-900 dollars... with the same details in the policy and coverage.

I increased the deductible in Water, Wind etc perils to 5000 dollars... increased the liability to 1M ... final quote: 190 dollars per YEARRR!!!!!

So all in all Auto+Home = 550 dollars total versus previous 1400 dollars.

Ahhh almost forgeting... shopped for electricity and I further decreased my wattage cost from 0.079 to 0.059 a decrease of -26%

Sweet!

Maybe I should make a few phone calls....

try every single insurance company... Auto insurance i didnt see much difference they were all pretty close... but it was home insurance that I saw some pretty good swings... some quoted me 500... other 700 others 1200 ... others 900 and then one for almost 200 dollars!!

All policies were around the same in terms of coverage which is amazing... i never thought it would ber that much of a diference.
