10-mile 13F bike commute!
« on: January 04, 2016, 09:11:49 PM »
I haven't been to work since before Christmas, and it was lightly snowing and freaking cold out, and the car beckoned luxuriously, but I successfully resisted and it felt ... pretty passible, if not quite great! =D Now to do it again tomorrow... and then all the coldness will be gone for the winter (right?)!

Well done!  Today was our first day of snow this window, a balmy 27F.  I started feeling chilly around the 5 mile mark.  Gonna have to see what else I can do to keep my face and fingers warm.

Good job, sweettea! It would be so easy to give in and ride in a warm car, but like this postcard I once saw from Nike, no one ever goes out for a run (or ride, in this case) and regrets it afterwards. The hardest part is getting outside the door.

Congratulations!  I've run in colder temps than that but I don't think I've biked in anything much under 20 yet.  My face doesn't really get cold but my feet do.  If it's not wet I have some cheap old ski gloves that work great on the bicycle.  They sucked for skiing.

Nice effort!

Choose the right clothes and it should be alright. I've got a set of cycling gloves that are awesome and totally worth the money for winter cycling (my hands get very cold otherwise).

Then again, the coldest I rode in last winter was probably low 30s F, so I'm impressed at the badassity of your riding in 13F.

Nice!  I biked to work on my coldest ever compute today too!  5 degrees this morning in Wheeling, WV  Ski goggles and mittens helped a bunch!
