1 year of investing = food forever
« on: September 18, 2017, 09:25:40 PM »
Mind blown... I just worked out that our 1st year of investing after paying off home will cover cost of food forever more. Thought others may find this motivational.

What would you visualise as Year 2 goal? Utilities maybe?...

That's a great way to think on saving, splitting it into manageable chunks. This has got to help with motivation.

Utilities would be a good one. Or insurance, not counting healthcare.

Yes insurance would work based on my rough maths.

Car expenses including depreciation would also fit nicely!

Our basic expenses - household bills, food, motoring, a very small amount of entertainment - are already covered by pensions.

OMY = being able to spend six weeks in the sun during January/February every year forever.

Or being able to afford to ski every year forever.

Or being able to eat most of our meals out instead of cooking.

It almost looks worthwhile, put like that.
