I've been hoping for this moment for a couple weeks now but with yesterdays market I have officially gone over $100,000 in my 401k! Took me a little under 2 years and 8 months after starting my fulltime job out of college in August of 2016. 100% contribution into the S&P 500. I can't tell this to anyone else except DW so thought I'd share here!

Congrats! I am really close too with that last bump... a few thousand to go. Unfortunately it took me quite a bit longer than 2 years 8 months!

We get a 10% match which is the highest I've ever heard of. Also, since I started in August I was able to max out the $18,000 in those 5 months, which left me with a very little paycheck. In 2019 I've already contributed $11,000 because that's where I put my bonus.

Crossed 200k in my 401k last week. Looks like it took 1 year 10 months to get from 100 to 200. Here's to the next 100 in hopefully under a year and a half!

Thanks for the bump. Mine is at $160K now (see upthread as to where I was around the same time). You are probably much more of a saver than I am. Nice work!

Or he has a big employer match. Some companies are way more generous with their match than others.

That's awesome, thanks for the update! I know I read about the power of compounding many times, but once you see it take hold it really is amazing. And you've got a great (and early) start. Your future self will be very appreciative. :)

Finally crossed 300k. Took 2 years and 3 months to go from 200 to 300.

Nice! I hit $100k in 2021... and then kept maxing it out... but unfortunately hit $100k again in 2022, LOL. I'm glad I have been taught not to stress the downturns. I'm hoping 2024 will be the $200k year :D

$401k in my 40lk! Took less than 11.5 months to go from 300 to 400. I’ve also stopped maxing it out so could have been faster.

$500k in my 401k! Looks like it took a little under 13 months. Didn't max out my account last year due to my kid starting daycare, but on track to do it this year. Also maxing out wife and I's roth IRAs. Worth mentioning my wifes 401k is in the mid 300s. She gets mad that mine is higher :-)

10% is a great match. Hubby's company matches 12.5% which is unbelievable.
