Random question--communal living dress code?
« on: March 22, 2014, 10:17:14 AM »
In your experience with communal group-living situations, when in common areas are you always fully clothed, in your pajamas, robes, sweats, flannels, Little House on the Prairie-type nightgowns, or what?  What is the expectation at your house?

I usually wear my PJs or gym clothes around the house.

When our adult nephew lived with my husband and me for 22 months, I was always fully dressed outside of my bedroom--could be very casual and comfortable, like a sweatshirt on top of stretch jeans, or leggings and Uggs under a long T-shirt--but I was covered up. I remember after he found his own place and moved out, what a relief to prance around my upstairs again in just a nightgown.

Sweats if it's cold, t-shirt and gym shorts if it's hot, usually.  Though I'd go from the bathroom to my bedroom in a bathrobe after a shower.  I don't like getting dressed *in* the steamy bathroom.

For going back to my bedroom after a shower, I had a couple long kaftan things. Looked like long, kimono-sleeve dresses rather than bathrobes. I almost never wear shorts, but wear a lot of capris with longish T-shirts in warm weather; those worked fine when my husband's nephew was there.

In a single sex shared home like my current one, towels or underwear are ok - as long as you're not naked it's not a problem. In dual sex shared house PJs as a minimum (and not tiny little nighties for girls or guys in no shirts)... but it's all about what you all feel comfortable with. If you feel uncomfortable just mention it politely :)
