Software for tracking costs
« on: January 15, 2015, 05:52:45 AM »
short version but I realized one of the reasons I've struggled financially is a lack of good tools, excel just isn't up to the task. I started using YNAB and FI Metrics (tax retirement planning software). Both have made a huge difference in how I manage my money.

I own 3 rental properties and it's a struggle to keep everything straight  two in the same building. I'm using excel but it's not working as well as I'd like.

I should note that this are German condos* so it's only cash flow profit loss I need to worry about.

Thinking out loud I could probably create a file on YNAP just for the places

Any suggestions on either software or a good excel spread sheet

Thanks in Advance

*as they are condos I don't need to worry about upkeep

Quick update, after posting this I did a search for "cash flow spreadsheet" and found what I needed. Simple spread sheet with income expenses and most importantly all the formulas filled in. Just a matter of filling in the numbers and I can tell if I'm making a profit or loss. In my case I want a tax loss.

this is what I found

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
