Hello, Mustachians!
I am here throwing a "message in a bottle" into the internet sea. I am a 26 y.o. structural engineer in Austin, TX, swept up in the dream of financial independence. So much so, that I have sold most of my things, and began construction on a 250 sq. ft. accessory dwelling unit on a commercial lot that I am renting for $200/mo. Right now, it's just my partner and I working on it, and we're hoping to finish by the summer of 2018.
A call to action: Homeowners in Austin, TX! Our "tiny home" is built on wheels and is in need of a permanent address. If anyone is interested in turning their backyard into a rental property, generating some passive income with no upfront costs, contact me! We can race to see whose mustache grows the fastest.

Hi Maddy,
My wife and me will be moving to Austin TX around 15th of May from Dubai.
Any chance your Tiny Home might be ready by then and we could move in for our first month in Austin?

This is neat! They have tiny homes in Dripping Springs, but I haven't seen any in Austin yet. How much land do you need to build one? What kind of hookups do they need for the land? I may have some buyers that are interested in something like this.

To Red: I'm flattered that you trust my craftsmanship! But I actually plan to move into the house myself when it's done. I own the house, but I don't own any land. I'm hoping to connect with someone who does, and hopefully craft a mutually beneficial relationship.
To alwayslearning: The utilities and space required for a tiny house are actually very similar to those for an RV. An electrical hookup and a garden hose are really all the equipment you need. (We have a composting toilet - no sewage - and use biodegradable soaps, so our water runoff can be collected and used to water plants on the property.)
As much as I think Dripping Springs is beautiful, the idea of a long car commute to my job downtown is sooo depressing. I'm still optimistic that something will come together within the Austin city limits!
