I grew up hearing stories of renters from my uncle who had lots of rental properties. Cured me right good of EVER being a landlord.
When we got married DH had 3 rental properties. I convinced him to unload 2 of them. The 3rd one was in a rent to own situation and those people came through.
Over decades we have owned multiple properties at the same time but never rented them out.Well, to be honest, they weren’t really habitable even though people were living in them when we bought them. We liked having extra ground for gardening and if there was a house there, ok.
The stories of California tenants rights terrify me. That film “Pacific Heights” with Michael Keaton playing the evil tenant haunts me.
