Rent past due/Evictions data thread
« on: September 14, 2021, 06:08:31 AM »
Just posting some links that might be useful for anybody that's interested in tracking stuff like this. Feel free to add your own if you've found something similar.

https://evictionlab.org/eviction-tracking/

This one is limited in size, but has some cool features. You can track raw totals of evictions, eviction rate (number of evictions per rental unit), and evictions relative to historical norms. It looks like most places are seeing the expected increases in eviction after many of the moratoriums have lapsed. But, most of those places are also below or roughly the same number of evictions that were seen pre-pandemic too, so perhaps no massive outsized wave of evictions will occur.

That one is national, and does an ok job showing larger trends.

My location is shown on both sites. The national map makes it look like evictions are up quite a bit in the larger cities. But the eviction rate data from the other site indicates that the cities in my area are seeing average to below average rate of evictions relative to The Before Times, while some rural areas are seeing pretty significant upticks (probably due mostly to small numbers of rentals relative to the cities). Anyway, I thought it was worth sharing. Would love to see what others are seeing or how they're interpreting the data.
