Title: New renter- how to create outdoor storage?

I just signed a lease on a small bungalow home that has NO outdoor storage. If you are a landlord, what would you typically allow a tenant to put on the property for storage? Any recommendations? I need something that could hold a couple of bikes, a lawnmower (I am responsible for the lawn care) and maybe some garden tools. I'd like to come up with some options to discuss with my landlord and see what he'd allow.

You have have to see what zoning or HOA would allow as well.

Talk it over with the landlord.  They may have some suggestions or even decide to get the storage situation taken care of out of their own wallet.

I don't think there's too much worry about zoning and there's no HOA...it's a pretty blue collar neighborhood.

I don't think there's too much worry about zoning and there's no HOA...it's a pretty blue collar neighborhood.


Again, talk to the LL.  As for zoning/HOA, thinking and knowing are two different things.  Your LL would be on the hook if something was built inappropriately.

But I would consider a stand alone shed or a lean to shed to sit on a side of the house.  They would probably need to be "temporary" structures.

Lockable? I like that it would be something to take back with you when you leave.   

I'd still check with the LL to see what they'd buy.   Tell them it's so you can do the yard work better.  Can't hurt to ask!
