I moved to BC but own a house with 2 apartments in it in Ontario.  Having a hard time finding an insurance company that will deal with an 'absentee landlord'.  Any suggestions?

Well, there is a reason.   Do you have anyone local that can act as your (infrequent) property manager?  That may help.

Yes, but even if I lived in Ontario, if the tenant had an electrical or plumbing problem - I'd have to call an electrician or plumber so no difference where I live...

I'm surprised they are giving you issues. Do you have a property manager?

Have you tried the Cooperators? Or a broker?

Agree that it's not a great set up, they should instead just have a clause saying that you or your designate will check on the property every 6 months for safety or damage concerns, ensure it's not vacant, etc.
