Title: Is there a best month or (months) to list a house for sale?

We are in Charlotte, NC - in case that matters.

What is the consensus on this one?

In my area, prices seem to surge after school gets out. If you look at Redfin or other sites, you can probably get a graph of price per square foot over the last couple of years in your zip code to see if your area has a pattern.

If you are buying again in the same area, not sure that higher price is better, since you will just end up paying a higher price for your new house.

February is often sited for best month for early spring shoppers. Then, of course, May in time for summer movers.  This past March supposedly had so many sales, that inventory was low in April giving the impression of decreased home sales, although the rate of sales did not decrease.

When it's ready to sell?

Seriously if you think of it listing at any particular point of time means someone may purchase it. Not listing it guarantees that someone won't purchase it. So when it is ready to sell will almost always be the correct answer.
