Online mortgage broker/companies
« on: April 22, 2021, 09:27:09 AM »
Hi,
I had posted this in the reader recommendations but I didn't get very much feedback.

We are looking to do a cash out refi and I'm wondering if anyone has had a good experience with the online lenders? They seem to have the best / lowest rates but I have read that some people have had terrible experiences with them. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!

Loan Depot
First Bank

Both were great in my expierences.  Just be aware, mortgage fees are outrageous right now...  However its well worth it for the incredibly low 30 year interest rate.

The rates and fees online are night and day better than local rates (in my area). I'm not sure why anyone is refi'ing locally.

I've used 3 different online lenders over the past 7 years. Always positive experiences, but be aware that they can take longer than local lenders.

Best of luck!

I used LenderFi based on information from a long refi thread at Bogleheads.
It went smoothly, and quickly-about 30 days from applying to closing.
I went with the 'no cost' option (actually cost approx $800).

better.com had the best rates when we refi'd ~8 months ago.  Streamlined and quick.

Quicken Loans/ Rocket Mortgage - some people online dislike them but I have had multiple good loan experiences with them over 10+ years.  They may not have the best rates however, so check against others.

I just wanted to say thanks!

Seems like it will be between LenderFi and Loan Depot (although PenFed did have a competitive go at it). The two online had the lowest rates and fees/costs.

I will try to post an update when it is all said and done.

We previously used amerisave, with great results, they have a nice online portal to submit documents and the process was pretty quick

I have had generally positive experiences with PenFed, Quickenloans and Schwabbank, and a great experience with GranderHome for my last refi.

I had an awful experience, bait and switch and shitty customer service, with Amerisave.
They maybe ok if you got a job, but if you are already retired they were really bad.

I'm currently looking at LoanDepot and GranderHome. But I'll also check out better.com and Lenderfi.

I've used Aimloan.com a few times. Great customer service, great rates, loan servicing is well done too. Their website is easy to compare rates, fee's etc without any obligation or even having to give your personal info. I highly recommend Aimloan!
