Insurance for a 6-plex
« on: September 06, 2013, 05:01:55 PM »
I'm in the process of purchasing a 6-plex. I need to get insurance for it (obviously) but my usual insurer will not insure any building with more than 4 units. Anyone have any pointers on where to find good (cheap) insurance for a 6-plex in Anchorage, Alaska?

I'd probably start cold calling.

Someone like Traveler's very well might.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Try looking at insurance companies that insure businesses because that's really what you're doing.  If you can find an independent agent that specializes in small business insurance, they would be able to help you find insurance companies in your area that cover apt. buildings  and help you identify the appropriate coverages you'll need.
