I am a first time landlord as of yesterday
« on: June 16, 2017, 11:11:37 AM »
Small time stuff, commercial property in a small town about 30 miles from a major city.

Paid 29k, rented for 450/mo til the end of the year, taxes 500/yr.

Met with the tenant, their only complaint was the last landlord waited too long before cashing the rent checks, I hope that is a good sign.

I am also hoping at some point I can use the space myself as a niche retail store. This would be after I reached a point where I wouldn't have to rely on income from the store.

I know running a store isn't really "early retirement" but it would be more of a hobby.

Thats awesome :), congrats. I dont know much about commercial rental's personally, you'll have to repost how it goes in 6 months or something.

Hah who cares if its small time stuff if it gets yeh closer to FI :), its semi passive income, thats pretty valuable!
