Home Inspector Recommendations - Central NJ
« on: October 01, 2015, 01:23:40 AM »
Can anyone in Central NJ recommend a really good home inspector? I'm trying to find someone thorough, who will write a detailed report rather than just slapping something together on the spot, and who isn't afraid to get on a ladder to examine the roof.

Hi Neighbor,

I know of a couple of good ones.

This is David Goldstein (disclosure, my son went to cub scouts with his son), who not only is an inspector but teaches about it. Extremely good.

The other (Delta) I have used (almost 18 years ago), they were great. I believe I got the structural engineer (Leo Stinson???), he was very methodical and found issues (and solutions).

I think they are in Princeton or Lawrenceville.

Some suggestions I have for you.
  • You should follow the inspector during the inspection (except maybe roof etc.)
  • Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty, jeans, full arm shirt, sturdy shoes.
  • Carry a notebook and pen. There are lots of items that he will tell you how to fix which may not end up on the report
  • Feel free to ask him questions. They are very knowledgeable and are happy to help someone who is interested.

Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.

Thank you so much! I googled him and he seems really great. I will definitely be calling him.
