A friend of mine introduced me to Fundrise (https://fundrise.com/) the other day, and I am curious to hear if anyone here has experience/opinions on the idea/investment vehicle.
I did a quick search and couldn't find any substantive forum chat on the company.

My development company is listed on their list of companies. Fundrise seems legitimate from all of the interaction I have had with them. All investments go through an investment committee and they are backed by VC folks with a lot of money and a wealthy family.
I haven't invested in anything personally, but I think many of their investments seem like good projects from strong operators. Note that you need to be an accredited investor to invest on their site.

What does it mean to be an accredited investor?

For individual investors it is generally:
1. $1M in net worth not including your personal residence
or (not and)
2. $200k in income individually or $300k with your spouse for previous 2 years with a reasonable expectation of the same income this year
Note that many of the platforms will be using Title IV of The JOBS Act ("Regulation A+") to offer pooled investments to non-accredited investors after the state's suits with The SEC are done. Pretty much everyone in the industry expects for The SEC to win this suit. There is a "mini IPO" process for these raises and it will likely be 2016 before you see many of them....at the earliest.

I just checked and our development company is no longer on the site. I guess they must have booted us off the site because we have a competing funding platform now. I sent an email to Ben Miller to find out why we were removed.
