getting real estate licence to save on commission in Canada (BC)

I am just wondering if anyone here has their real estate licence for personal use in Canada.  From what I understand the course is about 1k and it recommends about 6 months study time to write.  I work full time but am not worried about the course difficulty, more about how I would actually be able to make transactions (would I have to work for a company).  I could eventually see real estate as a fi career but for now I'll stick to my 6 figure day job.  Anyone have any info or advice.  I could see doing my own transactions saving huge mone.  I'm just wondering about the fees or catches, if it makes sense to do it or if established agents and red tape would make in impossible.

You don't need a listing agent at all if you are willing to show.  You also are not required to offer a commission to a seller's agent, but it is more difficult to attract interest as many buyers, although not all, have realtors.

I don't know much about the career aspect.
