I am a beginner starting to look at being a US landlord. Prices in Vancouver make being a landlord a losing idea. Blaine and Birch Bay seem much more realistic and provide a better return. However, we are being scared off by all the tax and legal implications. I understand I need a tax accountant and a property manager.
Anyone have any experience here that they would like to share? Does it make sense for a Canadian to be a landlord in the USA?
I did a quick search and could not find a thread on this topic. If there is one.. direction to that would be appreciated.

There are a few threads on this. Here's one to get you started:

Another one couldn't hurt though. :)
My advice: Thoroughly research first your market in general, and then specific neighborhoods. Then work on getting a reliable team there.
Both of those are crucial to success. The latter even moreso, IMO; I'd rather have a great team in a okay area than a okay team in a great area. YMMV, of course.
