Best vacuum for stairs?
« on: August 09, 2021, 07:09:46 AM »
We have a stand up Dyson, which is good for the floors. However, it’s hard to carry and balance it on the stairs and get the carpeted stairs clean.

I read “best of” lists for vacuums good for stairs. The stick vacuum had overall bad reviews for quality. The hand helds may work, yet the length of time it can work without needing a recharge may be an issue.

What tool works best to clean carpeted stairs?

We have this one and it is my favorite vacuum ever. You can detach the base and the stick in the middle and attach the base direction to the handle for doing the stairs. I also like that the base comes off by just stepping on the lever, so as I'm vacuuming if I need to use the stick part right up against the baseboards I can just pop off the base and then pop it back on without even bending over. I still have my Dyson but I just keep it upstairs and use the shark for 90% of the vacuuming. We got it at Costco and it was really cheap and I couldn't believe how much I like it more than the super expensive Dyson.

I have a Shark bagless corded handheld, model V15Z.  It’s perfect for stairs.  It has a rotating brush head and a canister “bag” with washable filters.  Easy to rinse clean and great suction.  My only quibble is that you can’t get into the very corners using the brush, but the hose does detach for this.  I don’t know if you can buy them new anymore, but eBay will likely have some - it does in Canada.
