savings on prescription meds
« on: August 29, 2016, 02:17:49 PM »
my drug plan will be virtually non-existent next year so I've been looking around at prices of meds.  Consumer Reports had an article with good resources, one was Healthwarehouse.com.  I checked the site and many of my current meds are available cheaper there than with my co-pay at my pharmacy.

They also mentioned Good RX, a card you get from your doctor that let's you compare prices quickly to find the lowest

GoodRx is available as an app (you don't have to see your doc to get anything for); you can use to check best pricing for area. I use it on my phone. One drug that was going to cost us close to $80/month ended up being $26 instead using GoodRx.

If you have a Sam's Plus membership you can get $4 or $10 generics.  I don't know what all is on the list for those generics or if they apply to you but I would think you could ask your local club for a list.  The Plus membership is $100 annually so it might not be worth it for just the prescriptions.

My first option would be Costco or Sam's Club

If I could not purchase from one of them, I would buy from Alldaychemist.com, it is from India.  I have purchased from them three times with no issues.

FYI: I'm pretty sure both Sams and Costco will let you shop the pharmacy with no membership.  You may miss out on some member specials, but they'll still be pretty cheap.

I've used the GoodRx site to compare and get coupons. My wife's Rx was cheaper through their discount than our insurance.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
