Podcast gauntlet - give me your best
« on: December 09, 2015, 02:58:42 PM »
I am new to the podcast game, and I feel quite inefficient trying to sift through podcasts via keywords on my app. I also cannot imagine devoting the time to keep up with 10-15 podcasts on a regular basis. With this in mind, give me three of your favorite Mustachian podcasts from the following loosely defined categories:

1) Personal finance / investment
2) Health / lifestyle
3) Wildcard (any of your choosing)

The only one I have settled in to listening on a regular basis is Rich Roll. A very efficient blend of health and diet aspects, ridiculous insights on endurance sports, and various multi-faceted self-improvement topics. He is an endurance athlete who went from overweight recently-recovered alcoholic around age 40 to vegan Ultraman endurance athlete over the span of a few years. He has a range of guests: from the Iron Cowboy (completed 50 ironmans in 50 states in 50 days), to physicians, to friends who all contribute to unique topics in each episode. It's inspired me to eat healthier and ramp up my running mileage after years of being lazy.

Finance/Investment: Motley Fool Money
Health/Lifestyle: Stuff You Should Know (mental health)
Wildcard: everything from Gimlet Media (StartUp, Reply All, Mystery Show, Surprisingly Awesome)

I subscribe to 28 podcasts, so I don't feel I'm cheating that much by cramming four different ones into the wildcard category. If you want more, just ask. I'll keep going.

Here is my list

1) Personal finance / investment - Freakonomics (Not really finance/investment, but you will learn a lot about the laws of unintended consequences, economics, etc. All of which is huge in personal finance)
2) Health / lifestyle - Savage Lovecast (not for everyone, but I enjoy it, who doesn't love a healthy sex life)
3) Wildcard (any of your choosing) - You Are Not So Smart (Excellent and interesting podcast about many different things) - Stuff You Should Know is similar and excellent.
