Pre paid service for iphone4

I am looking to get a prepaid cell service for a locked iphone4. Buy once at a fixed number of minutes that can be burned and replenished as needed. This is for a child to use as needed, we are trying to avoid adding the phone to our monthly ATT bill.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm surprised a phone that old is locked.  You really should be able to unlock it and take it to any AT&T MVNO (assuming it's an ATT phone).  I, too, use Airvoice, although my $10/month plan probably wouldn't cover a teen's texting habit (unless all friends are using iPhones as well, then you're covered with iMessage).

If you can traverse the lock issue, T-mobile has a prepay plan that costs $3.00 per month and includes 30minutes of call time in that charge.  Additional minutes 10 cents each.

I found the plan online tucked in some corner of T-mobile's sprawling, jumbled web thang and took the url to the store with me.  The smurfs there disavowed any knowlege and tried to move straight to the upsell script, which is where having the url of the offer came in.

They had to use their magic store codes to push it all through the servers and take my money, I would cheerfully pay a dollar extra not to have to deal with a call center anytime, but did not have to.

Phone service works fine --no complaints for last three years.

I use airvoice with my iPhone and am happy. I take the cheapest $10 plan and with minimal phone calls and data use I find it lasts me at least three three months to the expiry date. So it works out as a $3.33/month plan.

My wife also uses airvoice with her iPhone. She prefers a bit more calling, texting, and data use, so she uses the $20 / month "unlimited " plan.

Even if your phone is locked to AT&T, it should work with Airvoice since it is reselling the AT&T network
