Fridge, range
« on: June 22, 2021, 07:14:03 PM »
Can't hurt to ask? Parents need a fridge and range. They don't want used (darn). White, "normal" models. Electric smoothtop range, with self cleaning oven. Freezer top fridge.

Budget is around 2k, preferably less, northwest Indiana.

For reference, mom went to Menards and liked these models:
Range - WFE505WOHW
Fridge - WRT318FZDW

My concern with these is the reviews. I'm seeing a lot of basic functionality issues in the reviews. Now, if I'm over reacting, tell me and we'll just get them, but if I could borrow your brains, I'd appreciate it.

Stay away from Samsung. Their fridges have a lot of issues and are difficult to fix. We've had one since 2010, and I've had to dismantle the interior twice to defrost it (thanks YouTube!) and we have an intermittent water leak from the door.

LG has been getting good reviews. We have an LG gas stove (also 2010), never a problem.

Appliances picked out. Mix of GE, Whirlpool and Frigidaire. I think I spent about 8 hours in total going through reviews, having mom look at things, etc. Will be going to the stores today to order.

Agreed 100%. Will never buy another Samsung appliance.  I will shout it from the rooftops how much they suck and how they don’t stand behind their products.

I’ve since bought pretty much only whirlpool products for homes and rentals.  I have had no issues with the exception of 2 built in over range MW recently.
