HELP with do-it-yourself sound damping room divider/curtain
« on: November 19, 2022, 10:44:26 AM »
Hey friends! We have a project that's entirely out of our wheelhouse. We're looking to create a sound damping room divider to hang from a curtain rod. They cost up to $600 new! We need something that's about 4 feet wide by 8 feet tall. We'd like to keep the weight under 20 pounds because we have a tension rod already with a max weight of 24 pounds. Any suggestions on materials we might use and where to find them? We've no idea where to start on this.

Mass loaded vinyl sheet
But you're probably going to need to put in a stronger curtain rod.
Aerogel mat is light, but costs way more.

Wow! MLV looks awesome! Storing this for future reference.
