It came out today. It's $5/month or $50/year. If you sign up before Jan. 31 you can get it for $45/year. It seems like there are some cool new features, and I can understand why YNAB is doing it, but I HATE the idea of paying a monthly fee.

They will continue to support the old version for 1 year, which is nice I guess.

While I can afford the monthly fee for YNAB, I'm not excited about it.  I've been trying to cut out monthly service fees as much as possible over the last year and it's made a huge difference in the amount of money we can save.  I'll probably wait until I can no longer keep the current software running on my desktop before I ever dream of switching over to the yearly fee version.

My brother and his family were just introduced to YNAB this year and they love it.  He is in his final years of grad school and with three children they literally have no extra money.  They are extremely frugal and not in debt, but an extra $45 or $50 a year is a huge hit to their budget.

I don't have my own to post  yet, possibly because I am in the trial period, or the program changed/ended for referrals, or who  knows. My initial impression is that I am finding it a bit more user friendly than Mint. Mint also, both times that I have signed up, sends me a ton of spam email trying to sell me credit cards and other financial products - and I don't want that. Hoping to avoid that with YNAB. And that's worth paying monthly for? If that's your problem with Mint, there are several solutions (turning those emails off in your settings is one, or setting up a filter in your email to automatically mark as read and archive those emails so you never even see them is another).

No, it isn't just the email issue. As I said, I am finding it more user friendly. I have another thread regarding trying to set up a spending tracking system that works for me. Yes, it is worth paying for a system that works for me because this has been a particular sticking point for me. I realize that others have successfully used Mint, spreadsheets, paper and pencil, etc. but I haven't been able to stick with those systems. If it costs me $5 a month to have a workable tracking system for me, it's worth it for me. YMMV.

YNAB4/Classic will be supported through the end of 2016.  Then it will be on a path to abandonware.  I am looking for another solution.  I have a mint account but I'm not familiar with using it to budget.  So I have to go play around, I guess.
