The Chase Freedom card currently has the highest bonus they ever offer, which is the following:

Get $200 after spending $500 in the first 3 months

and

Get $25 additional after making someone an authorized user

Basically get 45% back on $500 of spending, which is pretty solid.  This card also offers 5% back on multiple categories throughout the year, which change each quarter.  This quarter it is 5% back on restaurants.

I think of Chase Freedom as the gateway drug to the credit card hacking world.  In a good way of course.

I got that deal back in January. Today I opened a checking and savings with Chase for a $500 bonus. Not bad for one hour spent at the branch.

Yeah, we grabbed two of the checking account bonuses for $600 a few months ago.  I didn't have enough cash sitting around to do the savings accounts.  Still at $900 for the year for checking account bonuses.  I am thinking of opening a BMO Harris account to get $150 because you only have to tie up $1000.

Good to hear, it's a great card.  Make sure you activate the 5% categories each quarter.  This quarter is restaurants.

it will be July 1st through September 30th.  They'll probably let you activate it through about mid September.

Yes. I have a Chase Freedom card already, and when I called to see about any bonus offers for existing customers, was told to sign up for a new card account to get the bonus. So I'll be doing that soon.

As long as it has been 2 years since you last received a bonus for that card, you can cancel and get the bonus again.

Good stuff, it's a great card.  See if the store for the laptop is in the Chase Rewards Mall and you could get even more bonus points for buying it.

I found restaurant.com through the store gives you 17% cash back. Looking at reviews for restaurant.com suggests they are very hit or miss. I wonder if chase would refund those purchases of it failed.

Those gift cards are a bit tricky, but make sure you buy them when they go on sale.  You can typically get a $25 gift certificate for $2.  But then your bill has to be at least $35 and your tip has to be 18% of the undiscounted bill.

That article is very old now. And the most recent reviews suggest anyone can sign a restaurant up. So they don't have to honor it. Not sure why chase would partner with such an organization of all that is true.

I *am* going to get a different Chase card that will pay me 2% cash back on everything I charge, so I can use that when none of my cards offers any higher percentage of cash back. I forget the name of the card, but it gives you 1% when you charge something and the other 1% when you pay your bill.

I unfortunately missed out because I had two ancient, unused Chase Freedom accounts that I could not get closed and re-apply in time for the deadline.

Chase said they may offer the higher $200 cash bonus at some point, but it's still the lower $100 bonus right now.
